Have You Meditated on God’s Word Today? – The Psalms Series

I will meditate on your precepts

Psalms 119:15

Meditating For Beginners

Have you ever meditated before? It’s become more popular in recent decades as people are wanting to better their physical, emotional, and for some, spiritual health. I’ve also done it in the past but haven’t been consistent in practicing meditation now. Meditation is beneficial for clearing your thoughts, relaxing, and focusing one’s mind. If you haven’t tried it before, you can start now. Just follow these four easy steps:

  1. Find a quiet space.
  2. Sit still and close your eyes.
  3. Focus on breathing in and out deeply and slowly.
  4. Do this for short amounts of time (5-10 minutes each) and then gradually build up to longer periods (20+ minutes).

Meditation can really help you when you’re feeling anxious, stressed, or angry. But when you’re meditating, what are you thinking about? It’s good to clear your mind and think about nothing at first. But after that, what’s your next step? If you’re a believer in God and Jesus, then we should think about God’s Word and what it means for us today.

As We Put On Halloween Costumes, Let’s Also Put On Our New Selves

As Halloween approaches, I’m sure you’re busy deciding on what costume you’ll wear (like me), or perhaps you already know what you’ll be. Do these give you any ideas?

It’s fun to dress up as your favorite character from a movie, TV series, or book. Some people put a lot of work and effort into a good costume. And others go for a more cost-effective route. Halloween allows us to be someone else for a night – to put on a “new self” as it were. Do you know what else tells us to put on a new self? It’s the Bible.

Even In Our Darkest Hour, Hope is Not Gone – Continue to Fight and Overcome!

Have you ever felt like the world is crashing around you? Like you just can’t go on any further?

I know there is a lot going on around us that makes us think nothing will get better, as if the enemy has already won. But don’t lose hope! As Christians who hope in heaven and eternal life, we must remember God’s promises written in the Bible. And what God has promised, He shall fulfill.

The LORD of hosts has sworn:
“As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand,”

Isaiah 14:24

Every word of God proves true;
He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Proverbs 30:5

Yet, we also know the devil is at work in the world, too, trying to keep God from fulfilling His plan (spoiler: he won’t win). Still, the devil has been ruling this world since the time of Adam and has 6,000 years of practice. He knows his time will come, so he’s trying to take us all down with him. So, what must we do? Shall we give up and let the devil win? No, we cannot.

Even Though We Are Living in a Material World, Let’s Not Become Material Girls – Building Heavenly Riches Over Earthly Ones

Even Though We Are Living in a Material World, Let’s Not Become Material Girls

If you’re old enough to remember the 1980s and 1990s, or have watched the Netflix series, Stranger Things, then you’ve probably heard the song, Material Girl, by Madonna. It’s a catchy pop song that’s fun to listen to and sing along with. I certainly enjoy it from time to time. The chorus goes like this:

“Cause everybody’s living in a material world, and I am a material girl.”

When we think about the lyrics to the song, and look at how people live today, it’s easy to see how we go after worldly possessions: a bigger house, a fancy car or two, Black Friday spending frenzies, and many more things. We look at what others have and desire it for ourselves. If you’re not religious or Christian, I guess you can live however you want, but if you claim to be a Christian, then…is this how we should live our lives as believers in Christ and God?

How to be a Good Christian Wife (Spiritually) – The Proverbs Series

How to be a Good Christian Wife

Ladies, take note. (Guys, don’t leave quite yet).

A lot of us are concerned with making our faith shine through our physical relationships. Whether it’s trying to be the kind of spouse God expects us to be, or looking for a godly partner, it’s a hot topic in many Christian circles today.

If you read through Proverbs 31, you’ll see a section on a wife of noble character. A woman that makes and sells clothing, gets up while it’s dark, plants a vineyard, and whose lamp doesn’t go out at night.

She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

Proverbs 31:18

Ah, so this is why I still haven’t found a husband! Time to buy a lamp, keep it on all night, and then tell the world on Instagram.

Not quite.

I’m sure you can gather that this is NOT what God intended. But do you know what it’s really saying?
