What is 1 peter about in the bible?

An Overview of 1 Peter

The Jews who believed in Jesus at that time were scattered about Asia and were persecuted. They were hurt and confused and doubting in their faith because of the persecution they received. What is the Book of Timothy About?

What is the Book of Timothy About? What is 1 Timothy about? What is 2 Timothy about?

An Overview of 1 & 2 Timothy

Paul writes two letters to a young pastor named Timothy, whom Paul considers to be his spiritual child (1 Tim 1:2). Paul was in prison for preaching the gospel and was sentenced to death. Timothy was a newly appointed pastor in the church at Ephesus, and at the time, some people in the congregation were preaching false doctrines, or not staying true to their appointed roles and tasks.

Paul reminds Timothy to teach sound doctrine, and not accept another gospel. In 2 Timothy, Paul reminds the young pastor (and us) to guard ourselves against false doctrines, to be a “good soldier for Christ” and work to please God with our work. He reminds us that many people will turn away from the Word in the last days, but the Word of God should still be preached “in season and out of season”, meaning at all times. Paul finishes his letter saying how he’s “fought the good fight” and now goes to be with the Lord in heaven.

Are You Quarrelsome in Your Life and Faith?

quarrelsome, life of faith, peace, knowing, understanding

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

Proverbs 21:9

Just at face value, this proverb has a lot of wisdom. Who wants to share a house or a room with someone who is always quarrelsome? Have you ever had to do that? When the person you’re living with stirs up trouble and there is always a tense atmosphere hanging in the air? This proverb should help us reflect on ourselves and how we share our space with those around us. We should be peaceful, not quarrelsome, lest we make the other person want to live on the corner of the roof just to get away from us.

But if we start to dig a little deeper, we can find a more spiritual meaning in this proverb as well. First, we have to consider a couple things: what do wives and husbands represent in the Bible, and what does the Bible say about the house where they’re living?
