How To Make Sure God Will Answer Your Prayers

answer your prayers, prayer, God', Bible

Whether religious or not, prayer is a big part of many people’s lives. For Christians, it’s a time when we can talk to God, open our hearts to Him, ask for forgiveness and help, or thank Him. Have you ever prayed really hard for something…but then…nothing? Radio silence. It seems like nothing happened, and you might start to wonder – was God not listening? Does God even answer my prayers? Or did He just choose not to answer that prayer? When we feel this way, we should consider the following points.

Why is the Bible Called the Word of God?

word of God, Bible, holy bible, scripture

Perhaps you have seen someone carrying a Bible and referring to it as something other than the Bible. In fact, if you look at the Greek roots, Bible simply means books. Sixty-six of them to make a complete collection. More meaningfully, I’ve heard the Bible called the Good Book, the Holy Bible or Holy Scriptures, or the Word of God.

With these many different names, do we fully understand why they are used? Why is this book called the Word of God actually? And if it is the Word of God, how did it get from Him to households all over the word as the best-selling book of all time?

Zeal Without Knowledge…It’s Not Good – The Proverbs Series

zeal, passion, knowledge, God's word, Bible

It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.

Proverbs 19:2

The Zealous Enthusiast

Zeal is defined as enthusiasm, passion, eagerness in pursuit of something–fervor. Maybe you’re a Christian trying to share the gospel. Or rather, maybe you’re someone who wants to help the poor, or work for a world of justice. But if we do these things without sound knowledge of what we’re doing, it’s no good. We might even end up doing the opposite of what we intended, or missing the mark.

Get Behind Me, Satan! How To Not Hinder God’s Work

hinder God's work, Satan, Jesus, Bible, God's work, God's will

“Get behind me, Satan!” These were words that Jesus spoke to his own disciple, Peter. Undoubtedly, Jesus was known for being sharp with his words, but doesn’t it seem a little extreme to call a disciple, who left everything to follow you, ‘Satan?’ But unfortunately for him, Peter had done something to hinder God’s work. Let’s take a closer look at the situation.

Who Does God Want to Save? Just Christians or All People?

God save, God's will, Christianity, salvation

“It doesn’t matter. I’m going to hell anyway,” they say. Their faces tell it all, God hates me. God only cares about Christians. For one reason or another, many non-Christians often feel like God doesn’t care if they go to heaven or not. Like they’re on some blacklist with a sealed fate. But the truth is, God doesn’t only have Christians in His heart to save and redeem. He looks upon the whole world with this hope:

Why Did God Create Satan…Or Did He?

did god create satan, lucifer, God's will, Bible

Have you ever created something?

It could’ve been a sculpture, a table, a painting, or another invention of some kind. How did you feel once it was completed? Maybe you were happy, proud even, to see your finished product. Now imagine that your creation, the thing you spent endless hours of work on, pouring all of your effort into, was then damaged, or destroyed by someone…on purpose. All of that hard work and dedication to make this beautiful creation…ruined. What kinds of feelings or thoughts would go through your mind?

In the Bible, we see that all of God’s creations that were originally made to be precious and good have become damaged, corrupted. This was all because of a deep betrayal. Who betrayed God and damaged His creation? Satan.

Is God Able to Trust Everyone?

God trust, God's plan, believers

Trust. What does this word mean to you? Do you give your trust easily? Or does it take a lot of time and effort for you to even start thinking about trusting someone new? When we think about the ones we trust the most, think about what has led you to give it. Usually it has something to do with time. You’ve known them since childhood or their friendship has weathered the test of time. Or maybe they’ve proven that they are reliable again and again and will be there when we need them. For those that do have our trust, we could probably all agree that these people are the ones we would be okay sharing our important information or vulnerable feelings with. We trust these people to safeguard our secrets and the things we hold closest to the heart.

Which Parts of the Bible Apply to Me?

Bible, God's plan, God's word, which parts of the Bible apply to me

Have you ever picked up the Bible and wondered, “Where do I even begin? Which parts of the Bible apply to me?” I was once told that the New Testament was all that us Christians need to read. They even went as far as saying that the Old Testament was just history. Just references and laws of the past that have nothing to do with our future. The instruction was to start reading from the Gospels to Jude, neglecting the Old Testament and Revelation. Have you ever heard anything similar? It seemed odd that I was only being told to read parts of the Bible, with the assumption that the Old Testament didn’t apply to me.

Music to God’s Ears: How to Pray a Prayer that Pleases God

Music to God's Ears: How to Pray a Prayer that Pleases God

Picture this. You’re at a church gathering, everything is coming to an end and it’s about time for the closing prayer. They’re about to choose someone to pray and everyone starts to get nervous. You know the drill… smile, don’t make eye contact, don’t act suspicious, close your eyes, get ready to pray. But then, you hear your name. “Gabriella, will you pray for us?” My whole body seizes, and I forget how to talk. But I’m somehow able to mutter a nervous, “Sure,” with a smile on my face. Have you ever felt like this before? Or is it just me?

Do I Still Need to Read the Old Testament?

The Importance of History

Why do we learn history? Is it just to memorize names, dates, and important events? Is it just a class we are forced to take in school? Or is there a greater purpose to it?

It is said that those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. We can look at major eras throughout history and see where humanity has failed and where it has succeeded. A positive example we can look at is the stock market crash in the late 1920s and early 1930s. A large majority of people had not invested any of their money leading to the banks eventually failing, and people lost their entire life savings. The economy crashed and poverty rose.
